There are no waiting lists for appointments at Metro Counselling and genrally appointments can be made within two working days or less in urgent circumstances (subject to your own availability) to ensure you receive the support you need when you need it. A central telephone, booking and payment system is based at our head office and manages all appointments for all our locations, and assists in counsellor selection if required.

The first step in the process is to choose which Counsellor you prefer form our team, and office location. If not sure you are welcome to call or email to discuss a choice most suitable for your circumstances. At this stage you can also get more information or ask any questions about the service you would like to know.

Call or email to arrange an appointment, and once a booking has been made a confirmation email will be sent with full appointment and payment details.

Our counsellor will meet with you at the appointment and discuss your situation and circumstances. Our counsellor will work with you to determine the best way forward to help you as an individual, couple, or family and what we can do to assist and support you to achieve the outcome or goals you have. Ongoing appointments are designed to achieve the agreed results or goals and maintain progress until achieved.

There is always someone at the end of the telephone between the hours of 8am-8pm Monday-Friday and 8am-4pm on Saturday. All messages outside of these times are monitored and will be responded to by SMS, or telephone call if urgent. The Practice Manager will take of rescheduling, cancellations, accounts or other queries outside of the appointment. If required, there may be an option for brief contact with a counsellor outside of appointments for support.

Once an appointment has been booked, you will receive an email confirmation containing appointment information, client agreement, options for payment, a Google map link for a street view of the location.

The day prior to the appointment you will receive a reminder sms text message from the Practice Manager as a reminder and confirmation of appointment.

On arrival at your appointment you will be greeted in reception. There will be a copy of the client agreement for you to sign, and an opportunity for any other questions you may have. At the beginning of the first appointment, the Counsellor will ensure you feel comfortable and as relaxed as possible so that trust and rapport can be developed. From the first appointment onwards, the counsellor will work collaboratively with you to establish a clear direction, plan of action, and have realistic and applicable strategies and tools that you can use outside of the sessions. At the end of the session, you and the counsellor will determine when the next appointment will be, what you need to prepare, and what to expect at the next appointment.
