Relationship Counselling

In order for us to have good relationships, we must first recognise the relationship we have with ourselves.  A relationship needs to be nurtured by the people involved, otherwise if you are not looking after it, who or what is?  Relationships are often thought of as the one we have with our partner/spouse.  Yet there are many different relationships we deal with everyday such as family, friends, work colleagues, and even those that we foster at our local shopping centre or sporting clubs. Do you have the confidence to speak honestly and openly about anything that is causing you some grief or concern?  Many of us tend to deal with conflict by avoiding, blaming or being angry.  Why not let one of our experienced counsellors or coaches help in the many different areas involved.  There is not a ‘one size fits all’ in this area, so it is really important to allow us to help you ‘prevent’ any further deterioration.

Marriage counselling

In order for us to have good relationships, we must first recognise the relationship we have with ourselves.  A relationship needs to be nurtured by the people involved, otherwise if you are not looking after it, who or what is?  Relationships are often thought of as the one we have with our partner/spouse.  Yet there are many different relationships we deal with everyday such as family, friends, work colleagues, and even those that we foster at our local shopping centre or sporting clubs. Do you have the confidence to speak honestly and openly about anything that is causing you some grief or concern?  Counselling takes into consideration all aspects of the different stages in a relationship, role models, our choices, destructive behaviours, ways to achieve an easy relationship, and looking at the quality as well as quantity. Remember, healthy relationships don’t just happen – they need time and energy from both people.

Pre-Marriage counselling/education

Before you make the decision to get married, there are several issues you need to consider personally, and as a couple.  We need to spend even more time and energy on our future together than on the preparation of the wedding day.  It is amazing how similar/different your attitude can be on the many elements of life.  Essentially, what do commitment and marriage mean to both of you?  There is also the question of what are our expectations of marriage, finances, children, styles of parenting, values, beliefs, differences, conflict resolution, and so on.  Relationships grow and change over time, so it’s important that we have the skills to be able to keep our relationships happy and healthy.  Good communication between the two of you is fundamental for a healthy and happy relationship. Communication is also important when making the decision to get married.
